Ferowen by Enzonic

Ferowen Privacy Policy

Effective: November 8, 2026

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Ferowen, the desktop web browser published by Enzonic ("Enzonic", "we", "us"), and when you visit our website, https://browser.enzonic.com. It applies to Ferowen version 0.2 for macOS, Windows and Linux, and to later versions until we publish a new policy.

The short version

  • The Ferowen app sends Enzonic nothing. There is no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, account, sync, advertising or automatic update check, on any platform.
  • Your history, bookmarks, settings and open tabs stay on your computer.
  • Our website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts or fonts. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes basic request data to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

Part 1: The Ferowen app

Two engines, depending on your platform

Ferowen contains no Chromium, Blink or V8 code. Its web engine depends on your operating system:

  • macOS: Ferowen uses the WebKit engine built into macOS.
  • Windows and Linux: Ferowen includes Servo, an open-source web engine written in Rust, which uses Mozilla's SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine. Servo runs inside the app.

What Enzonic receives from the app

Nothing. Because the app never contacts Enzonic, we have no record of who uses it or how.

What is stored on your computer

Ferowen keeps your settings, your browsing history (limited to the most recent 5,000 entries), your bookmarks and the list of tabs from your last session in its data folder:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/com.enzonic.ferowen/
  • Linux: ~/.local/share/com.enzonic.ferowen/ (or the equivalent folder under $XDG_DATA_HOME, if set)
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\com.enzonic.ferowen\

On macOS and Linux, these files are created with mode 0600, which means only your user account can read or change them. On Windows, they get the normal per-user permissions of your profile folder. Like other files in your user folder, they may be included in backups you make.

Website data (cookies, cache and storage that sites save) is held by the WebKit data store on macOS, and by the Servo engine inside the app on Windows and Linux.

You can clear your history and website data at any time in Settings → Clear browsing data. Deleting the data folder removes Ferowen's own files. To remove website data as well, use Clear browsing data before you delete the app.

Private windows (macOS only)

On macOS, private windows use an in-memory WebKit data store. Pages you visit in a private window are not written to your history or saved in your session, and the cookies and storage from that window disappear when you close it.

Ferowen 0.2 for Windows and Linux has no private windows. Servo keeps all website data in one shared store, so a private window could not keep its cookies and storage separate from your normal browsing. We chose not to offer a private mode that cannot isolate your data.

A private window does not hide your activity from the websites you visit, from your network or internet provider, or from whoever manages your computer.

Network connections the app makes

Ferowen connects to the internet only for these purposes:

  • Websites you visit, including the resources those pages load.
  • Favicons, fetched from the sites you visit.
  • Your search engine, when you submit a search from the address bar.
  • Fraudulent website warnings, provided by Apple through WebKit, on macOS only (see below).

Address-bar suggestions come only from your local history and bookmarks. Ferowen does not send what you type to any server to fetch suggestions.

Search engines

The default search engine is DuckDuckGo. You can switch to Google, Bing, Brave Search, Startpage, Ecosia or Kagi in Settings. Searches go directly to the provider you chose, under its own privacy policy. Enzonic does not see them.

Fraudulent website warnings (macOS only)

On macOS, WebKit's fraudulent website warning (often called Safe Browsing) is turned on. Apple provides this service, and Apple may use Google Safe Browsing or Tencent Safe Browsing to do it. It works by checking hashed prefixes of web addresses rather than sending the full addresses you visit. Apple's privacy policy governs this service.

This feature is not available in Ferowen 0.2 for Windows and Linux.

Ferowen Shield

Ferowen Shield blocks known trackers, ads and cryptominers on every platform. It uses a list built into the app, and no remote list is downloaded, so Shield does not reveal anything about your browsing. On macOS the list is compiled into WebKit content rules on your Mac. On Windows and Linux, Ferowen blocks third-party requests to listed domains in the app's own network layer. Blocking is best effort, and some trackers may still get through.

Global Privacy Control and HTTPS

On all platforms, Ferowen sends the Global Privacy Control signal (navigator.globalPrivacyControl = true) to every site, telling it you do not want your personal information sold or shared. Whether a site honors the signal depends on the site and on the law that applies to it.

HTTPS-Only mode is on by default on all platforms. Ferowen upgrades connections to HTTPS so your traffic to websites is encrypted where the site supports it.

Downloads

On macOS, files you download are saved to ~/Downloads and tagged with the macOS quarantine attribute, so Gatekeeper checks them before they open. Any checks macOS performs are carried out by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

Ferowen 0.2 for Windows and Linux does not yet support file downloads.

Websites you visit

Websites you visit receive your IP address and your browser's requests, and may set cookies or run scripts. Their own privacy policies apply, and Enzonic is not responsible for their practices.

Part 2: The website, browser.enzonic.com

browser.enzonic.com is a static site served by Cloudflare Workers. It hosts information about Ferowen, and the Ferowen download files for each platform are served from it.

  • No cookies. The site sets no cookies. See our Cookie Statement.
  • No analytics or tracking. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
  • No third-party scripts or fonts. Everything the site loads comes from the site itself.

Hosting. Cloudflare, our hosting provider, processes IP addresses and request metadata (for example, the page requested and your browser's user-agent string) to deliver the site and its downloads and to protect it against attacks such as distributed denial-of-service (DDoS). Cloudflare does this under its own privacy policy.

Downloading the app. We do not ask for your name, email address or any other information.

Emailing us. If you write to one of our addresses, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply and keep it only as long as we need it to handle your request.

Legal basis (EEA and UK). Both Cloudflare's processing and our handling of your emails rely on our legitimate interests in delivering and securing the site and in answering you.

International processing. Cloudflare runs a global network, so request data may be processed outside your country. Cloudflare describes its safeguards in its own privacy policy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the EU and UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you the right to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, to not be treated differently for using these rights, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

To be straightforward about what these rights cover in practice:

  • App data. Enzonic holds no personal data from the Ferowen app. Everything the app stores is on your computer and under your control. You can view, export or delete it yourself, as described above.
  • Website data. The only personal data connected with the website is the request data Cloudflare processes as our host, plus any emails you send us. Because we run no analytics or accounts, we may not be able to link request records to you. We will still help as far as we reasonably can.

To make a request, email privacy@enzonic.com. We will answer within the time the applicable law requires, and we may ask for information to confirm your identity first.

Children

Ferowen and browser.enzonic.com are not directed at children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact privacy@enzonic.com and we will delete it.

Security

Because the app sends no data to Enzonic, a security incident at Enzonic cannot expose your browsing data. Ferowen's local files are protected by your operating system's user permissions, as described above.

How the web engine gets security fixes depends on your platform:

  • macOS: WebKit receives its security fixes through macOS updates, so keep macOS up to date.
  • Windows and Linux: the Servo engine is bundled with Ferowen, so its security fixes arrive only through new versions of Ferowen.

Ferowen does not yet update itself or check for updates, so download new versions from browser.enzonic.com. To report a vulnerability, see our Security Policy or write to security@enzonic.com.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this policy and its effective date and post it on browser.enzonic.com. If a future version of Ferowen adds a feature that sends data to Enzonic, such as an update check, we will describe it here before releasing that version.
